Release notes.
v1.4.0 Public release
- Optimised battery status calculations
- Added splashscreen with firmware ID
- Implemented auto-shutdown at low power
- Added warning to switch off main power switch to prevent self-discharge
- Codebase now common to all upcoming LCmini and LCcine devices
Important: Do not unzip the firmware file. The .zip file must be selected directly inside nRF Connect.
Firmware updates are performed using nRF Connect for Mobile, a free Bluetooth utility provided by Nordic Semiconductor. nRF Connect is not a KipperTie product, but is used to deliver firmware reliably over Bluetooth independent of the LCminiND control app. You can also find this tool by searching the App Store for “nRF Connect for Mobile” (publisher: Nordic Semiconductor).
Requirements
- LCminiND powered on and nearby
- iPhone with Bluetooth enabled
- nRF Connect for Mobile installed
- The firmware .zip file saved to your phone (do not unzip)
- At least 50% battery on both phone and LCminiND
The update process takes approximately 2–3 minutes. Keep your phone close to the LCminiND throughout.
Installation
1. Transfer the firmware file to your iPhone
- AirDrop the file from your computer, or
- Download it from an email and save it to the Files app
- Ensure the file remains a .zip
2. Connect to LCminiND
- Open nRF Connect
- Ensure Scanner mode is selected
- Find your LCminiND in the device list
- Tap Connect
- Enter your pairing code when prompted
3. Run the firmware update
- Tap the arrows icon in the top bar (DFU / update mode)
- Select Open document picker
- Choose the firmware .zip file
- Scroll down and ensure “Erase app settings” is enabled
- Tap Start
Do not close the app during the update. After a short while you should see a “Success” message.
4. After the update
- Power-cycle the LCminiND
- Pull down in the scanner list to refresh
- If necessary, forget the device in your phone’s Bluetooth settings and reconnect
- Confirm normal operation in the LCminiND control app
Troubleshooting
- Device not appearing: Power-cycle the LCminiND and refresh the scanner list.
- Connection fails: Forget the device in Bluetooth settings and reconnect through nRF Connect.
- Update fails: Ensure the firmware file is still a .zip, keep the phone nearby, and repeat the update process.
